Christmas Cottage 2020

As I decorate the cottage for Christmas, each finished vignette gives me all the “Feels” of this special Holiday. The cottage is decorated in a traditional Christmas theme with lots of vintage goodies dispersed throughout.

As you enter the main living room, you’ll see this little cedar tree on a primitive bench.  The garland is a crochet chain made by one of my kiddos.  Cookie cutters double as ornaments.  The star is a DIY.

Christmas Star DIY:

  • Take four twigs of similar length.
  • Arrange twigs, forming a star.
  • Hot glue twine on the ends to hold it together.

Cottage Dining Room

On the dining room table is a plaid curtain, acting as a table runner (you’ll see me use this curtain as a runner in several places).  The table scape is an antique silver tray with three glass candle holders and a star ornament.

In the pass-through window, you see a lit cloth garland, nativity and Christmas runner.

The above vignette is displayed on a cabinet in the dining room.  The ornate vintage frame is a recent thrift find!

Here is another Christmas curtain as the table runner.   A clear compote bowl holds red bells.

Wise men and a shepherd with a sheep are displayed.  In between these men, sit a clear glass church.  Light illuminates from candles which gives it a cozy Christmas vibe.

Here is another table in the dining room.  It will serve as a buffet table Christmas Eve.  Displayed center is a Currier & Ives tray.

To the right is a Petersburg basket, filled with greenery, and a church bird house is nestled in the center.   A creamer and sugar bowl are on the table as well.  On the wall you see four blue and white Currier & Ives Winter scene plates.

Christmas Living Room

We always get a live tree for Christmas and we love the white pine!  I will shift some things around.  This is our main tree, where all the presents go lol.  Beside the tree is a vintage sled, horse and Nativity.  Since Jesus is the reason for the season, my kids always place a Nativity under the main tree.

The sofa table also displays a Nativity.  Yes, we love Nativities!  On the top of the table sets three amber antique bottles with greenery.  My Mother-in-law gifted me these.

Center is a Fitz and Floyd Snowman plate and a basket with greenery wraps this vignette up.

This simple table display is a glass canister hosting an old book, topped with a vintage red glass bird and a Christmas pick.  One of my boys loves snow globes.  He found this one with a cardinal and I thought it fit perfect in this spot.

Continuing the red cardinal theme, this needle work picture sits on the shelf with Christmas bouquets on either side.  Also, on this shelf is a bottle brush tree inside a terra cotta pot, red candle holder and Santa with a polar bear to finish it off.
