Simple Living Cottage Life

The days may be full of garden work, preserving or simply tidying up the cottage.  There’s always a chore to do, but that’s okay.  Simple living cottage life is not hurried!

Although, gardening season does require more of a timeline.  We try to accomplish as much as we can, taking breaks for family time.  Gardening this year saw many failures and successes.  I am hopeful for next year’s garden and have already planted our garlic for 2022.

Our cottage life is about rural living and sustainability.  We enjoy quiet country living.

What Our Cottage Life Looks Like

Today was a canning day.  We preserved some of the jalapeno harvest.  Shaun agreed to slice the peppers because he isn’t sensitive to the jalapeno juice.  Jalapenos can burn your hands, so I would need to wear gloves.

As he was slicing, I was gathering the canning jars, lids and rings.  We heated the water in our waterbath canner and sanitized the lids.

Next, I fill the jars with peppers and the vinegar brine.

Filling the pantry is a satisfying endeavor, simple pleasures.

How You Can Enjoy Simple Living

Simple living is about embracing a lifestyle that is enjoyed.  Making the most of your days.

Taking time to talk to your family and friends, showing them you care.  Enjoy the little things in life.

The Seasons of Cottage Life

As winter approaches, we’ve been cutting wood and building a new home for our hens.  No matter how many things need to be done, they can be enjoyed.  I like preparing for winter.  It’s like a new beginning.

Although we have all seen winter before, we’ve never seen the one that’s fast approaching.

The seasons in a rural cottage life require different chores.  Our focus for winter will be more indoor living.  Thankfully, cottage renovations will come more into focus.  Stay tuned for renovation updates!
